One week in Santorini

We have just had a great week in Santorini and I thought I would make a few comments. We stayed at Samson's Village and had a really nice room with a mezzanine bedroom. This had a curved ceiling meaning we bumped our head a few times in the dark. No problem, it gave us a laugh. As it is only a hundred yards or so to the beach we didn't do as much walking as we usually do but we made ourselves go left or right for a 5 minute walk to different beach bars. Virtually all these offer free sunbeds provided you ate there. Can't say we had a bad meal anywhere, we ate mostly Greek (obviously) but one pizza restaurant worth a mention is Sirroco. Fantastic fresh toppings on wood fired bases. The Beach Club was a very laid back venue with good music, as was Tranqilo. A very nice bar right at the end of the beach road was Demilmar. Simpler bars, but nonethless good, were Bob's bar and Dorians. Both handy for a drink while waiting for a bus. Waves and Sellada restaurants were good, free beds again, Locura was our last day on the beach, nice comfy beds with some good music in the background. We did hire a Smart car for two days and went to Fira for the sunset. I'm glad we stayed in Perissa as I don't think I would have enjoyed paying the prices all week that we did that evening. Perissa, large beer €2.50 - €3.50, Fira €5.50 for a small one. Had a lovely meal in Idol, €26 for tagliatelli and prawns. On the way home we did a recce to the port to catch a ferry the following morning. Up early for the ferry and I was having my coffee on the balcony and noticed the lovely colours over the roof of the hotel between us and the beach. I wandered round and saw a fantastic sunrise so I went back to the room to get my wife. There were about 10 people doing the same thing and just the sound of 1 foot waves lapping on the shore. Total contrast to the scrum in Fira the previous night. We caught the boat to Ios, eventually (that's another story!) and I have to say I was greatly impressed. We went as my wife went island hopping there 30 years ago (she's currently in Corfu with her friend, alright for some) and so we decided to return. It will be on my list for certain. Megalachori is also a nice little village and worth an evening trip. So, would I visit again? Absolutely.

Wonderful holiday!

Thank you to Anthi, Nick and the whole team who really made this holiday , together with the location right on the beach with free sun beds, beautiful clear sea and fabulous views! We loved the room overlooking the sea with a second balcony overlooking the pool and stunning mountains. The team were lovely and we loved lunch there and exploring other restaurants at night. Didn’t want to leave and hope to return very soon! Thank you for a fabulous week! Lynn and Rich xx

Good location , hotel a bit dated

We stayed in Perissa for the first 4 nights on a twin centre holiday . Noticed the difference when we got to the next hotel in Paros which did make Perissa Bay look a bit tired and dated . Ours was a superior double room - pretty but no mod cons . The hairdryer was very outdated and reminded me of Greece 40 years ago trying to dry your hair with one of these ! The bathroom was quite dark . The room was helped by the pretty blue shutters which gave it an authentic feel . The pool area is very small but when we went late September it was very relaxing and peaceful . You are a stones throw from the black Perissa Beach with lots of beds and umbrellas you can use . Staff are friendly although the reception is tiny and there wasn’t always someone around (I understand they are doing a number of jobs such as serving at the attached small beach bar) . The location of this hotel is excellent - straight onto the beach with loads of tavernas and shops either side so have a wander both ways . A short walk too to a large supermarket where you can get wine on draft (go to the rear of the supermarket) - 3 euros for a litre and it’s good - well worth a try . Loads of places along that road too to hire quad bikes and buggies to get around plus buses . Well situated hotel , needs some updating , helpful friendly staff .

Amazing 2 weeks with friends and family

Just returned from an amazing 2 weeks holiday at Perissa Bay. Nikos, Anthi and the staff were all very helpful, friendly and would do anything to help us. We had 7 rooms in perissa bay for the second week of our holiday as we had guests staying to attend our wedding. We also had guests staying in 4 other hotels in perissa one being Lucia villas a sister hotel to this (our guests were equally happy with this hotel). All our guests were made welcome at perissa bay, everyone was very impressed with the facilities, the pool, beach area and the staff. The food available at the bar was of great quality and very reasonably priced. Food and drinks are available all day and most the evening! Breakfast had everything you expected from a continental buffet. There is an area next to the hotel for cars so ideal if you wanted to hire a vehicle to explore the island. The rooms were what we expected for 3 star in Greece they were basic but had everything you need. The room did included mini shower gel and shampoo which was a nice extra, these were regularly topped up and rooms were cleaned everyday providing fresh towels. The staff gave you everything that you would expect from a 5 star hotel they were amazing and would help in any way they could; when ever we asked for anything they helped/sorted it straight away. Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Santorini. Perissa is a great base to explore the island from. It is much quieter than Fira and oia were all the cruise ships stop. If you’re considering this hotel give it a chance you will not be disappointed. The staff are amazing and work hard all day everyday. Can not wait to return! Tasha and Jon x
