Velassaru är en mycket fin resort med många plus. 1. Ligger mycket nära flygplatsen och båten som hämtade oss var gigantisk. En yacht. 2. Mycket vacker ö med stränder i alla väderstreck. 3. Infinitypool som är som ett smycke på ön. 4. Vackra villor där de flesta har en liten egen strand. 5. Maten är superbra, både buffé och a la carte. Några små minustecken. 1. Frukosten saknar det där lilla extra. Typ bär, hemgjord granola, hembakat bröd. 2. Inget café på ön.

Paradiset

Besökte Velassaru tillsammans med min sambo under 8 dagar. Helt fantastisk vistelse! Perfektion från att man landade på flygplatsen och möttes upp av personal från hotellet tills att man lämnade en vecka senare. Ön i sig är otroligt vacker. Det är rent och snyggt och väldigt lugnt trots att personalen sa att det var nästan fullbokat. Vi bodde i deras enklaste rum, deluxe bungalows. Bakom lummig grönska, enbart ett tiotal meter från havet och ens egna solstolar. Självklart är det lyxigare att bo i vattenvillorna men för oss som är strandmänniskor räckte det gott och väl med en deluxe bungalow. Under veckan testade vi på bufférestaurangen Vela hela 5 middagar. Vi var otroligt nöjda med både mat och service. Framförallt Moosa vid dessertdisken, honom kommer vi aldrig glömma (tack för presenten). Vi åt dessutom på Sand, som serverade oss vällagade köttbitar, trots att dom egentligen fokuserar på fisk och skaldjur. Avslutningsvis åt vi en fin BBQ-middag under stjärnorna med egen kock och servitör. Romantiskt att ensamma få sitta i sandstolar, med tända ljus och lyssna till havet och njuta av god mat och dryck. Vi åkte på en snorklingstripp under ett par timmar. Besökte ett djupare rev på utsidan av atollen. En del fisk men minnet som består är den gigantiska rockan som simmade förbi i dom starka strömmarna i vattnet. Vid stoppet i lagunen såg vi ännu mer fisk och en sköldpadda. Jag tror att det finns betydligt bättre snorkling/dykning på andra öar på Maldiverna men det här räckte gott och väl för oss. Vi besökte även Velassaru Spa. Vi tog en Deep Tissue Massage i ett parrum. Innan behandlingen kunde man bada i deras bubbelpool med magisk utsikt och bada ångbastu om man kände för det. Behandlingen var en av de bättre jag fått. Min sambo, som jobbar i spa-branschen gav högsta betyg. Städning och service är prickfri. Minst två gånger per dag städades rummet och till min sambos stora förvåning rensade de till och med hennes hårborste från hårstrån. Det kändes som att de hade koll på när man lämnade rummet för man mötte aldrig städ- och servicepersonal. Vårt starkaste minne kommer vara de oförglömliga solnedgångarna som tittades på från Chill Bars stora terrass med en god drink som sällskap. Vi rekommenderar varmt andra att besöka Velassaru, särskilt om man som oss ville utnyttja sista dagen till fullo då vår flight hem gick vid 23.50. Båten lämnade Velassaru kl 20.30 på kvällen och vi fick en hel dag extra på grund av detta. Tack Velassaru och tack Maldiverna. Varma hälsningar till Miqdad, Moosa, Waheed och all annan personal som vi tyvärr inte kommer ihåg namnen på.

2nd time in paradise.

When we arrived at the airport Ilhram waited us and took our luggage and took us to the speed boat. Once we arrived at the Velassaru island, Marge greeted us warmly and led us to the reception and updated us on all the news of the resort. Arriving at the reception we received a refreshing glass of pineapple juice and Fahud led us to the villa. On the way to our villa, Fahud also updated us on the latest news of the resort's activities. When we arrived at the villa we had prepared a fruit platter and several delicacies. The villa has a generous space, with a large and very comfortable bed. And so are the pillows. The bathroom is spacious and open air and well equipped. In the room there is an apple TV and if you have Netflix or Amazon Prime account you can use it to watch movies. The air conditioning is very good and copes very well with high temperatures. Even if it is turned off in less than 5 minutes, it manages to cool the room well. The villa is very clean and well maintained. Zahir and Ghani are the ones who took care of the cleanliness of the villa. Thank you Namzur for lovely surprise. The breakfast was fantastic. It is a diverse selection with specialties from almost all cuisines of the world. Curry (chicken, tuna, vegetable, potatoes, dal), noodles, omelette, quiche, salads, dressings, cold meets, sushi, yogurts, smoothies, fruit, pancakes, wafers. All these delicacies are carefully prepared by the head chef Wasantha and his team of chef Arnold and Chandu. In the pancake and wafer section Bino Kumar, Safon Bir, Julianna, Subeeresh are the ones who prepared the dishes. At the hot dishes section Sugon Bir, Mohd Shoaib were the ones who prepared our daily dishes. At the fruit and juice section Amila Don, Dayan, Parama, Mahesh, Yerra are the ones who prepared us delicious juices and delighted us with freshly cut fruits. At breakfast we were greeted and led to the table by Riya. Ali Raseed and Ruchira were attentive to us and made sure we didn't miss anything. At breakfast it was Sanewa who delighted us with delicious pastries with fruit, jam or chocolate. We had dinner at Vela and Turquoise. It was Zadhee and Dammika who helped me select curries and soups. Anoof, Imran, Irufan, Aida, Also, Samooh, Asel, Salam, Safan are the ones who served us breakfast or dinner. Almost every day I ordered curry. It was Fayaz who showed me how to eat curry properly. A nice option was the chocolate, vanilla or strawberry ice cream served by Omary and Ahmed. The garden in front of the villa which was beautifully maintained by Halal gave a special look to the villa. We took a tour of the island and according to Google Fit the island has a circumference of 1.3 km. Ahsan și Ameen front desk recepion did the formalities for check out. The day we left Marge said goodbye to us Velassaru is a spectacular resort thanks to a brilliant management and wonderful team. Our second stay at Velassaru was more spectacular than the first time. We have now begun to count the days until we have the opportunity to see Velassaru again.

A very good experience

A very nice place to stay for the holiday. The service and the food was very good. Chef Vasant (executive chef) took personal care of us and made food according to our taste. Overall we enjoyed the stay and the service of all the staff.

Too expensive for what is offered

Summary: Although the Velassaru is listed as a 5-star hotel, we would not give five stars. The journey from the airport by boat is well organized and takes about 25 minutes. We had a Deluxe Villa with terrace and outdoor bathroom. The equipment is unspectacular; we missed, for example, an espresso machine in the room. There were no free electrical outlets and also no outlet in the bathroom for our electric toothbrush. The minibar is expensive (e.g. a can of Coke around USD 5) and is not refilled regularly. There are 4 restaurants, all quite expensive; the food is not so excellent that the price would be justified. The breakfast buffet is mediocre (watered down fruit juices, not 5* level). The service is not particularly friendly (nothing compared to Thailand). We didn't visit the spa, as it was too expensive for us (the cheapest 90-minute massage costs USD 175, the one-time $25 voucher for 2 people still doesn't make this affordable). The sunbeds on the beach are old, and there is no service at the beach. Quite a few guests reserve the sunbeds with towels before breakfast. We would not have expected such a behavior at a supposed 5-star hotel. We had looked forward to snorkeling: the lagoon is shallow, most of the corals dead, small fish, not particularly impressive (with a little luck you can see a turtle or a small shark). Unfortunately, triggerfish live here, defending their nests with bites, which can spoil the pleasure of snorkeling quite a bit. Unfortunately, we did not know this when we booked. Excursions are offered, which are also quite expensive. Overall, we had the impression that the guests are being ripped off. There are no alternatives, not even a store where you could buy drinks.
