Wonderful place

Brilliant staff who really take great care of you. Lovely food and lots of cultural activities to participate in. Had a wonderful 2 week stay. Close to beaches and with easy access to explore the whole of the island.

Very kind people owning the hotel

I visited Patmos during a hectic period (12-18 August). We arrived at the hotel at 12 o'clock at night and there was someone at the reception (it is open 24/7!!!) waiting for us and take our luggage to our room (it was on the 3rd floor). The room had a plain decoration but with a nice view at the sunrise and sunset, they were quiet and it had free access to wi-fi!Also, it was very clean and the people there cleaned it and changed our towels every single day!! The owner and his mother are very kind, sweet and helpful people. I would recommend it as It is very close (walking distance) to the centre of Skala as well.

Very nice hotel

Together with my teenager son, I am travelling at least once a year to Greece, normally in September and October and stay there for about 4 weeks on different small islands and different hotels. Of all the hotels we live in, Casteli Hotel is our favorite one. It has a beautiful view on the harbor of Skala and the Aegean Sea, the rooms are very clean and have nice bath rooms. This is a family-driven hotel and the owner and his family are very friendly. There is free WiFi on the rooms.

Clean but not very friendly - and over-priced!

Stumbled across this hotel looking for a room with our two teenage children - in the baking midday heat of August, laden with rucksacks and needing only one night's accommodation. As the other reviewer states, the hotel appears small and charming and at first appearances, the sweet old lady behind the desk seemed to do her best to help us. However she charged us 70 euros per night for each of two rooms - making 140 euros in total per night. This was more than we had paid anywhere else in three weeks travelling in Greece (we were paying about 40 euros per room elsewhere - including busy Symi as well as the centre of Athens and 100 euros for Trip Advisor's No 1 speciality lodging in Rhodes!). That said, the rooms were very clean and functional although there was no shower curtain which made for a very wet bathroom floor! Nice views towards the harbour of Patmos from a small and fairly private balcony. Wi Fi in reception only. The old lady didn't speak english (understandable perhaps) although two other staff did however none were friendly and looked down at the floor rather than smile at guests. In the morning the old lady tried to charge us extra for breakfast although when I told her the hotel down the road had included breakfast for 40 euros a night she waived the cost! It was however small and rather insubstantial (coffee, fruit juice, some dryish bread and a biscuit) although taken on a nice terrace in front of the hotel. All in all I would advise not to stay here despite the hotel's location close to town. There are plenty of other hotels and apartments around. There is no need to pay over the odds for a very non-memorable venue.

Not going back

Our room was on the top floor of the rather big building that is not shown at the photos of the site. At the site they show a small family hotel. This is not the complete truth though. Behind that sweet hotel they have built a very big and rather ugly block of rooms. I would not mind the aesthetics of the building though, if I could reach the top floor in order to get to my room. At the hotel, there was no elevator ! We had to carry the luggage ourselves (me and my girlfriend), through a maze of deserted long corridors and many many many stairs (the hotel is built in a strange way on a hill side so there are more stairs than expected). Even worst, we had to walk these same stairs every day at least 3 times. Even going out to get a bottle of water was a small exhausting trip. The room was ok. Nothing special and definitely not a bargain at the price we booked this place. Two simple beds that were there from the mid 70's, a small fridge, an air condition, everything looking old. The view was nice as the balcony was overseeing the port of Patmos. We stayed there for 5 nights, and then we went to another place (at ground level), because we were not enjoying our stay there at all...
