Grim hotel

The only way I can describe this hotel is grim. The photographs and previous reviews are wonderful but this hotel was very dirty, photos attached of our "extremely small bathroom". The breakfast was cold and poor. Had hi hopes for Skiathos, which didn't disappoint but would avoid this hotel. The shower was disgusting, the shower head was cleaned on request but should of been unnecessary.

Excellent little hotel, you won't be disappointed.

Just returned from 10 nights at the Avaton Hotel. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. Standard - Excellent for a small hotel. Location - 10/15 walk down a slight incline to the road. Town either along a busy road (no footpaths) or you could take a path which is a little more challenging for those who struggle walking. Away from the hustle & bustle of town, very quiet. Pool area - Small but always sun loungers available because most people are out on trips or at the beaches. Sun loungers are so comfy. Bar - Cost of drinks was typical of the area, beer 5 euro or cocktail 10 plus. Not sure if they serve snacks during the day. Restaurant (Black Pepper) - Amazing food, ate here twice, which is unusual for us, very rarely eat in the hotel at night. The menu doesn't alter, but enough choice for 2/3 nights. Staff - They couldn't do enough for you, considering it was the last week of 6 month stint they still had a smile on their face & would go out of their way to say good morning. Any trips. advice or car/quad hire you may need speak to the staff. They'll either advise or book it for you at no extra cost. The negatives are. Room & bathrooms - immaculately clean, on the small size, but very nicely decorated etc. Needed storage above the decent size wardrobe but they'd boxed it off. Maid came in everyday, even though we said we was OK. Cats - The island has lots of them, wouldn't harm one, but don't want to be pestered by them either. 2 in town on separate evening decided to urinate on me. However I was only bitten 3 times, so maybe that wasn't a bad thing.

Cat Paradise

Lovely hotel. Location not too bad but you are a bit out of town. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are adequate and facilities good. Free wi-fi. Impeccably clean throughout. The breakfast is good, plentiful and lots of choice. Good quality food served in the restaurant on an evening but choice is limited and it isn’t cheap for what you get. There are no ‘snacks’ either, for example, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, gyros. Just full plates. However, one massive problem for us. CATS and plenty of them. Seven around the table the last time we ate there. Since then we have eaten out. Some may say ‘what’s the problem’? Fair comment but both myself and my husband have an allergy to cats. Eyes swell up, laboured breathing, itchy skin to name but three things. Had we known about these creatures we would have gone somewhere else. Giving you the heads up just in case you have a problem with cats. The most annoying thing is that guests are putting plates, serviettes or just throwing food on the floor for these animals. For us the good things don’t compensate. Won’t be returning.

Attending Daughters wedding

We came to Skiathos for daughters wedding. Unfortunately we got stuck indoors with Storm Daniel. Fortunately we were all kept safe due to the hard work from the staff. The staff worked extremely hard to clean everywhere despite having loses and damages in their homes. Avaton hotel had extensive damage outside. They continued to clean throughout they did everything possible to keep the hotel open. We made new friends. Just got to say this Georgia absolutely Beautiful. All the staff amazing. Already booked our return. 💕
