Fantastisk fin hotell! Snällaste personalen på hela jordens yta! Jätte gott mat! Bra länge! Jätte gärna vill återkomma! På hotellet finns cyklar att hyra så kan man lätt ta sig till Grand Baie som ligger cirka 5 km från hotellet.

It really is paradise

We have just returned from a nine-night break to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary that coincidentally included my birthday, that the sharp-eyed reception team picked up from my passport on arrival. We chose to come here thanks to your reviews; and we have had a wonderful time at one of the world’s most beautiful hotel locations and very much hope to be going back next year. When it comes to holidays, my wife and I are like chalk and cheese. She likes to sunbathe, read a book, swim in a pool or the sea, avoid any boating activities and avoid sea food. I like to stay out of the sun, compose music on a synthesizer, play tennis, go to the gym and eat lots of seafood. Neither of us like temperatures near or above thirty degrees. So, the warm mid-twenties temperature and cooling breeze were perfect for us. We spent much of our time on the cove beach and must thank Michael for ensuring we remained “hydrated” during the day. We also spent time on the peninsular with its breath taking views of the Indian Ocean, often being enthralled by the kite surfers racing across the ocean in front of us. The grounds and gardens are beautiful and kept immaculately. One real bonus for me were the tennis courts. We had taken our racquets so my wife could have a first hit in twenty years. The courts are in really good condition and very well shielded from the wind. And then there is the excellent coach Hugues, who is as at home helping beginners get started as he is sparring with more experienced players like me. I so enjoyed my sparring sessions with him, the rallies I “won” were definitely earnt. So, if you are interested in trying or playing tennis, it is much better catered for than I had picked up from the hotel’s website. The gym was fine for me too as I tend to use only a cross trainer for aerobic exercise and free weights, in this case dumbbells, for weight training. I also had an excellent sports massage in the tranquillity of the spa and my wife had her nails done too. Our room 425 was very comfortable with a splendid view of the beach and kept immaculately clean by the brilliant housekeeping team. We loved the humorous towel sculptures they often created for us on the bed. The food is special. The breakfast buffet is really excellent. Given my wife is not a sea food fan, we ate most nights in the main restaurant as it offered a broad range of options. Most nights it’s a help yourself buffet with different cuisine themes. Some nights the starter and dessert were served at your table. There was always something interesting to try and the flavours of some of the dishes were sensational. The evening entertainment too was varied and often interesting depending on your taste although some acts could be a little loud. And as for the service, we want to thank all the staff from the bottom of our hearts for making our stay so special. They are so friendly and happy to assist you. We did experience some slow service issues early on. The hotel sent us an online questionnaire on the second morning to ask how our stay was going. We raised these issues and went to breakfast. Within fifteen minutes various managers came to talk to us about the issues and apologise. And the service we received thereafter was exemplary. And finally, the wi-fi is probably the best I have ever experienced in a hotel and it covered the beach and large parts of the peninsular too.

Amazing wedding, honeymoon & holiday!

We have just come back after spending 2 weeks here. This trip was rearranged 3 times due to covid. Both the hotel and Kuoni were so accommodating and understanding. Where do I start ….. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by warm and friendly staff. We were given a tour of the hotel and taken to our room. We booked a junior suite overlooking the cove which didn’t disappoint. The room was impeccably clean and immaculate. Being coeliac and having to follow a strict gluten free diet I was slightly concerned as I didn’t want to be ill and spoil my wedding and holiday. I can honestly say I had no issues in the entire 2 weeks. All menus and buffet food have allergen labels. There are staff available who have clearly been trained to understand peoples requirements. I was able to eat from the buffet, menus could be adapted or the chef even cooked something else for me on one occasion. We ate breakfast and some evening meals at the Dining Room. There was plenty of choice. We particularly enjoyed the Indian themed nights as the curries were amazing. The Mauritian and BBQ nights were also very good. We ate lunches at the Peninsula and also prebooked some evening meals there. The sea view is stunning and the food was superb especially the seafood platters and the fish curry. Thank you to Deepak and chef Clifford for looking after us. We ate at the Cove which was included as part of our wedding and honeymoon package. We also booked the lobster meal separately which cost about £50pp. All these meals were ordered from a set menu and the food was an exceptionally high standard. Thank you Sanjeev. We ate lunch at the Stay bar a couple of times. There is plenty of choice of salads and burgers and light snacks. We went on the glass bottomed boat which lasts about an hour. We also went on the hotels catamaran trip which cost about £75pp for the day. One thing I would say is the sea was pretty rough during the outbound trip to the islands. However the islands we visited were beautiful with deserted beaches. Luckily the return journey was not as bad. We were lucky enough to see whales, dolphins and turtles. We also used the hotels taxi service a couple of times to visit the botanical gardens and Grand Baie, on both occasions the driver waited for us and brought us back to the hotel. The hotel has a set tariff for these trips. Ophelie arranged our wedding and the day was perfect- thank you! She came to say hello when we arrived and we arranged a time to discuss the arrangements. She also shared her contact details so I could message her via WhatsApp if I needed to. We got married at the Peninsula overlooking the sea. Thank you to the ladies at the spa for arranging my hair and make up. The thing that makes this place so special is the staff. They work so hard and clearly take pride in the work. The gardeners look after the beautiful gardens and update the floral displays regularly. They always say hello as you walk past. Special thanks to Micheal for making us laugh and keeping us supplied in drinks whilst we were in the beach. We loved your detox juices followed by G&Ts! Thank you again to Deepak and chef Clifford, Ashna for bringing our evening drinks. Apologies I can’t remember any more names. We hope to return someday for our wedding anniversary.

Peaceful and bliss, one of my favourites

Fabulous hotel (one of the best I’ve stayed at), attentive staff/service with excellent food. The eggs Benedict was a firm favourite as part of my breakfast. The dinner menu was very varied and there are several restaurants that should meet most peoples needs. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a peaceful, romantic hotel in a stunning setting. We stayed in room 801 which was a large luxury room (small suite) with a lovely veranda that looked out onto the beach.
