2* hotel at best even with room changed 3 times/ Exoticca tour group
We stayed here through a package guided tour group though Exotica I would give this place a 1* but manager Maria did get us moved to a 3* upgraded room once I talked with her and tried to contact Exoticca as the original room they tried to put us in should only be rented by the hour. Staff are the god saving grace at this hotel, they are super friendly and helpful. This place probably was ver nice many years ago but is in desperate need of major overhaul….which I was told will be coming in a year or so. Public areas like lobby, pool and breakfast room was in decent shape but still could use a deep clean and paint job. It is obvious Greeks and European travellers are given better room then those from North America. Or perhaps it’s just the Exotica groups given the old dirty and crappy rooms. Room on level5 should not be rented for more then $20 a night as they are basically and 8 by 10 room with double bed and small fridge and smaller bath. Our group, existing of many elderly people 65 plus with medical issues where all placed in upper rooms on level 7 with no consideration given to accommodate their needs. One of the only pluses of this hotel was location that is 1 block from beach and a 20 walk uphill into town of Ana Mera Breakfast was decent, certainly better then most rooms Manager stated they where over booked and Exoticca booked only one week prior to our arrival and that’s why we all had the worst rooms at highest level I do not think most of those rooms should even be rented out O’Neil cleaned properly and renovated This hotel should consider purchasing a golf cart to transport people to higher levels Even though stasis was awesome would not recommend to anyone
What a dump
Our late night flight was cancelled so us and 5 other couples were put in this hotel for one night. We all agreed it was a dump! Old tatty rooms, thin uncomfortable mattresses, only a sheet and cover so cold at night, insufficient pillows. Smelly bathroom with cracked mouldy tiles. Thin walls so every noise was heard. Curtains far too small for the windows. No water in the fridge. The breakfast was very poor. Not much choice. Cold fried eggs, grotty looking ham so ended up with yogurt, toast and coffee. The pool looked dirty and the sunbed cushions old and tired. Some rooms are up an incredibly high slope. Thankfully we were near the bottom but if you have mobility problems you'd have real trouble. This is not even a 2 star hotel. I'm so glad we were not staying there!
Worse hotel in 50 years of Travelling.
Although, we were confirmed to be at a different 4 star hotel by Exotica they change us to this 2 star hotel last minute. At first, when we entered the hotel we thought it was quaint. However, when we were assigned a room we discovered it was on the 7th level. Imagine an 7 floor apartment building without a elevator and you understand what my 80 year old husband, who had just recovered from cancer, had to endure. Now for the room these are the following problems: -164 steps vertically up a mountain. - Black Mold so thick in the bathroom and the kitchenette counter you can scrap it off. For 3 days, I coughed continuously. As soon as I was out of the room the coughing stopped. -Sewer smell very strong caused by plumbing problems. -No shower curtain. - Mosquito netting had huge holes. -stagnate water under the window that was a perfect breeding ground and then they entered the room easily. We sustained multiple bites. every night - tiny 12 inch TV duck-taped to a wall bracket. -hard boxspring for a mattress. -Garbage dump below our room. -paper thin walls that you could hear every sound through -no phone. pillows on lounge chairs around pool are broken and falling apart. On the first morning when I approached the manager to change the room because I am allergic to mold she said she didn't have any rooms available however 4 other people changed rooms after me. One person had to change her room 3 times. The manager promised to have the room cleaned, and then she would change our room the next day. She never did. On the last day when I showed her the pictures of the mold she said she knows what the room looks like. SHE KNEW and still mad us sleep in there. The cleaner came up to our room and only brought new towels and folded our bedspread. He didn't even sweep the floor much less clean the mold with bleach. He was in and out in 3 mins. I timed it. The one bright spot at this hotel is the front desk staff George and Mardi are amazing and very helpful
Family vacation trip
Do not be fooled by the pictures they have on their website! This hotel would be long shut down if it was in the United States for its hazardous sanitary condition. The bathrooms have mold some more sever than others . I know because I traveled with ten other families all through Exoticca travel agency. And all families complained about the conditions of their rooms . Dirty toilets. One family found mouse droppings on their bed . And the hotel staff refused to clean the rooms they said as a three star hotel the rooms are NOT cleaned daily. They do not replenish you on toilet paper or soaps. And what’s even more gross is that the kitchen staff will feed sick street cats off of the plates people eat from that have leftovers. And the beds hardly have a mattress it’s like sleeping on wood beds! Horrible experience!!
Great Service, Great Location, Rooms a little dated
Perspective is key for me when reviewing this property - If you are looking for a moderately priced, well located, greek style hotel with great service then i would 100% recommend this. The rooms are dated, particularly the bathroom, and could do with a facelift and the beds not particularly comfortable, but the aircon works, the service was superb, they couldnt do enough (helped with late checkout request, parking, restaurant recommendations AND room upgrade etc) and its very well located - the free breakfast was decent too and a nice bonus. Essentially you get what you pay for - you can't compare this to 300/400 euros a night hotels, but around the 150 mark, i think it offers good value for money. Thank you Penelope Village!
