Rivers of dreams
We spent six nights at Royal River, looking for some winter sunshine. It was a first class experience from arrival to departure. After some consideration on which room to book, we chose a River Villa room for two people. On arrival, following a welcome drink overlooking the main pool, we were shown to the villa. It was a truly stunning series of spaces (So not just a room, a villa) from a large living room with mini bar, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, TV, sitting area, through double doors to a beautiful bedroom (another TV), large bathroom with shower room, standing bath, double sink, and walk in wardrobe. The outdoor space was a lovely surprise. A very large patio area with a choice of furniture (comfy cabana, beds, sofa and table and chairs) and our own plunge pool which connects to the ‘river’ (there are two rivers). Swimming up and down the river (especially as the sun goes down and the birds flit through the palm trees above) is like being in a tropical paradise. The patio had a perfect mix of shade and sun, and if we were really wanting to sunbathe we also had a spiral staircase up to a roof top with two comfy sun beds. This was a lovely place to come back after exploring Tenerife and the local area. There are also other pools around the hotel for all guests to use, including the aforementioned ‘main’ pool and the rooftop infinity pool. We visited these a couple of times to try them out and they are surrounded by beautiful spaces and views of the gardens, mountains and sea. The hotel is beautifully designed throughout, lots of tropical lush gardens, wonderful spaces, well designed and calm interiors. Because many of the accommodations have their own pools, or direct access to them, the main pools are quiet and it lends itself to an overall tranquility to the place. The hotel overlooks the local golf course, with mountains on one side and the sea on the other. There’s not much in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, (so it is very peaceful), but if you want to get down to La Caleta (which is a picturesque fishing village with some wonderful seafood restaurants and a few cafes, shops and bars) it is about 20 mins walk down the hill. You can also walk along the seafront into Costa Adeje. Back at the hotel, breakfast was served on the terrace every day while we were there (glorious weather) and our first morning was a Sunday, which included a violinist which added to a calm and elegant atmosphere. The breakfast selection was varied and of high quality. The other food offered across the hotel is excellent. We booked half board, something we would not normally do as we like sampling lots of local restaurants. We weren’t disappointed and ate dinner four times at The Top, one night at Flamingo, and one at Kokoro. It’s easy enough to book a table as long as you do it in advance, and note that they are open on different nights, and we used the app for this. Service at all restaurants was excellent - relaxed and attentive. Each has its own atmosphere, and a selection of food, focused on local produce. As we ate at The Top four nights, there was enough selection to have something different every night, from seafood to steaks. Some of the dishes are prepared and served at the table, and everything is of top quality. Flamingo and Kokoro were set ‘tasting’ menus. Both were excellent and in particular on the night we attended Flamingo the weather was warm and we sat outside near the main pool. There was live music (a singer and saxophonist) which added to the ambience. As with The Top, food was great, including some really interesting dishes. One thing we did notice is there doesn’t seem to be a social hub of the hotel. There are a few bars but there doesn’t really feel like somewhere to gather with other guests for a pre-dinner drink. It didn’t really matter, as we got to make use of our own space for drinks. The hotel design, the rooms, the gardens, the pools and the restaurants all made our visit to Royal River a very special treat, especially so after the last couple of years. However, it is also the wonderful staff that really made a difference. Everyone was friendly, attentive, helpful and made our stay even better. This hotel is a real gem.
If you have dreams of wonderful relaxation and beautiful surroundings then this is for you.
What can I say every part of this experience is wonderful from the moment you step out the taxi till the beautiful wonderful welcome from the staff. One of the greatest assets of any business is it’s Staff. I would like to thank Gabriel & Raff who are front of house and just such a delight. Then we get to Carla who is the manager who smile beams even through a mask. Thanks to you all for my wonderful stay. Now for the facilities this place has it all beautiful spa and pools with incredible service at the main pool bar thanks guys you know who you are. Then the decadence of the breakfast room I even have one of the flamingo lamps in my house which I found rather amazing. The food and drinks are great the prices are good for what you are experiencing being the best hotel in Spain 2022. This place will always have a place in my heart because of the spacious rooms and wonderful bathrooms and total privacy that the room gives you. Spend all day in your robe and don’t feel judged the atmosphere is really the best. I have been twice in the last 2 months already because it’s so so good I am from the UK.
We spent 10 days in a private pool villa for our honeymoon. The hotel is so beautiful with an incredible design. You would honestly think you are in the Caribbean. Incredible views and facilities are 6 star! What you get with this hotel is privacy, 50 rooms where other 5 star hotels they are too big and so many people with buffet style dinners. Staff have been so friendly and made us feel very welcome and helped us with anything needed with a smile. Specifically 1 member of staff in particular Julio has really put a smile on our faces and gone the extra mile to help us where needed! On the whole all the staff have been brilliant though. Amazing memories and cannot wait to one day come back to this place paradise!
Prepare to be wowed. The bar just got raised
This may take a while to read, but if you are the traveler who truly wants something special, you need to read on. I’ve written a few reviews. I’m am a holiday lover with no bias other to enjoy holidays and well earned breaks. I have travelled extensively. All holiday happiness is subjective to each person’s personal likes and dislikes. By way of exclusive luxury there is officially a knew number 1 in Spain and rightfully so. Royal River Luxury hotel If you like the best which can be offered, the Royal River hotel is that hidden gem that will not be hidden for long. WOW. WOW. WOW. I am currently staying here and today, the hotel has been voted the No1 in Spain. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 I came across this hotel on line looking for 5 star hotels Tenerife. We spent two weeks with friends in another hotel and my wife and I decided to stay on. We arrived at the Royal River and we were overwhelmed with its quality. I have to try and put this into some sort of context to enable trip advisor readers to get an idea of just how spectacular this place is. I will try. The one and only Cape town. Langkawi Dante Le royal Meridien Dubai ( my second home). Grosvenor house Dubai Armani hotel Dubai Jumeriah beach Dubai Sheraton Abu Dhabi The Wynn Las Vegas Biltmore & Mayfair London Ballyincurragh house Kinsale. Ajman Saray Ajman. these are a few hotel which I have had the pleasure of staying at. The Royal River is at the top of that list for its attention to detail, it’s fine dining, facilities in its spa, pool area and bars. This boutique hotel has to be on your list to come to. The best of hotels have good and bad days. Understanding this and having read a couple of reviews, it’s clear that some have agendas. I will say no more than that Carla and her team are amazing. This property is amazing. I have never seen so many new guests walking around taking photos. Whatever the language is, wow and amazing are easily understood. Look out all 5 star hotels around the world. The bar has been raised by a boutique hotel in Tenerife which today was voted number 1 in Spain. Royal River Luxury Hotel.
Superb except food and restaurant service
The hotel is one of the most stunning in terms of design , build quality and facilities that I have seen in fifty years of travelling the world in thirty years of owning a tour operator and latterly as an individual . The level of design and attention is quite exceptional and every day we noticed something we hadn’t see before and it’s clear that no expense has been spared to create a six star level - surely one of the very best in Spain. All the residences have their own pool and there are one two and three bedded villas available . The two and three bedroomed have their own bigger pools overlooking a golf course . The one bedroomed villas have own pool but a unique feature is that there are two one hundred metre heated “rivers”that a guest can enter directly from their own pool and the river is wide enough for two people to swim up and down The bedrooms and bathrooms and sitting areas are very spacious , carefully designed and expensively fitted out to the highest standards. There are two swimming pools - one at ground level and one amazing horizon pool on the roof . To cap it all there is a beautifully designed Spa - one of the best I have seen The service provided by Reception , Housekeeping and Maintenance is faultless.Five gold stars to the garden designer for providing the the most beautiful gardens I have seen and the estates team for keeping them beautiful. The reason I have given four stars is the standard of food and service which is nowhere near five star standard. I recommend you book bed and breakfast only and then you can make your own judgement . If you dont take dinner at the hotel there are at least a dozen really high quality seafood and other restaurants in La Caleta a beautiful bay just ten mins from hotel. Breakfast food and service is very good . The problem is lunch and dinner . Like most hotels in Europe it!s clear that that there are problems with staff shortage with the result that many of the staff are untrained , look nervous all the time and make elementary mistakes .in addition their English is very limited which results in most orders being delivered wrongly and having to be sent back . This applies to both food and beverage. The Executive Chef needs to get out of the kitchen and see what is happening out front . Also the menus are far too clever for their own good . If you can’t get the most simple dishes right from the lunchtime menu then there’s no chance of getting the dreaded “fine dining “ options right in the dinner menus . Keep it more straightforward and there’s a chance it might be more acceptable . Finally the management need to be more visible so that they see the level of service and quality of food are nowhere near acceptable for a fantastic five star hotel Go to this hotel but if the food and service remain poor there are other options .
