I booked this hotel as a last resort solution , since there was no availability on the hotel I usually stay at. It is situated close to Sitia, just a 5 minute drive, which is convenient, while vacationers can easily access the great sites further East. The layout is nice with the rooms built in a bungalow fashion with roomy balconies for all rooms. The facility was probably built in the 90's and unfortunately it has stayed back in the 90's, not having moved on since. An extensive refurbishment is required and quite badly so, since the age of the building and of the facilities are quite apparent. Old style t.v. sets, when even the most humble apartments in the island have at least a new flat one. The furniture, while probably stylish back in the 90s, is of bad taste in the 21st century. Other than that, everything else was just that, average.

Wonderfully out of the way (but close to Sitia)

A superb patch of the rough and rugged paradise that is Crete. Good rooms, reasonable price, wonderful breezes through the rooms (if you want them). A great alternative to staying in a dull hotel in the town (though only 5 mins drive away!) Wifi operative in the central breakfast room. Good breakfast included. Opportunity to have dinner there al fresco, though we drove into town (rightly or wrongly)

Gorgeous place, wonderful people.

The hotel is located in a bay just outside the gorgeous town of Sitiea. The resort is beautiful, the waves lull you to sleep each night, helping relaxing thoughts. The staff at Lassion are professional and super friendly. All speak very good English, French and German. The food is awesome, the chef is exceptionally accomplished, and the Cretan evening has to be experienced. In all our weeks holiday there was first class. We had a bungalow overlooking the bay and the sunset was breathtaking.

Nice dated hotel in beautiful grounds and location, outside Sitia.

We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel which is in a stunning location in its own grounds just outside the port of Sitia. Accommodation is in bungalows rather than a single building. It is by the beach and has a large outdoor saltwater pool with a bar. A good breakfast was provided in the main building with the half-board dinner in its own outdoor "taverna". This was a little cool on the first night but the waiter and chef were very friendly and entertaining. The dinner was a surprise each night as there was no choice but each one was very enjoyable. WIFI was available throughout the hotel with 3 routers but reception was variable and very slow. It is let down somewhat by the aging facilities such as old cathode ray tube TV's, dated decor and the beds needed replacing, only providing adequate comfort. There was ample parking within the grounds but it would be a little isolated without your own transport as the port of Sitia was about 5 minutes away by car and there were no local restaurants nearby. Although there are no on-sight laundry facilities, they took ours to Sitia with the hotel's own laundry and only charged 3 Euro for the lot with overnight turnaround!!

Disccovering Eastern Crete

You need a car to explore this part of Crete, but it is rewarding as there are some superb views, We stayed at the Lassion for a week in early May. There are virtually no tourists at this time of year, but the hotel could not be faulted, it is spacious and clean, the staff are efficient and friendly and the views excellent. We usually make the rounds of local restaurants on holiday but the food at the hotel's own Taverna was so good and reasonably priced that we ate there each evening. This was due to the remarkable chef Ignatius and his assistant Iaonnis. We called Ignatius the magician because he seems to be able to make everything taste good. They were also excellent company. Hopefully more tourists will discover this unspoiled part of the island
