A good low budget hotel

It's a good hotel if you want to sleep and hang at the pool a bit. It's not very luxurious. Breakfast is okay. But simple. Tea coffee orange juice. And a bit of cereal. The beds are okay. But it is clean. It gets cleaned incl fresh towels daily. There is a Swimming pool at the back of the hotel. The water isn't very warm and there is no poolbar. But you can lay in the chairs there. Free parking at the back of the swimming pool. There is wifi but it isn't very fast. TripAdvisor says its a smoke free hotel. That's not true. On the balcony you're allowed to smoke. There is an ashtray in the room. All and all its a good hotel for an okay price.

6th time here

I started staying here my first trip in 1992, and have returned 6 times! Irini is a good friend, sweet and works much to hard. The hotel has grown from a small 10 rooms to 26 rooms, pool, wonderful breakfast and staff and is now a 4 star hotel. Daughter Maria and son Vassili help her now. I am happy to return after a 15 year absence to find the family well and happy. You cannot ho wrong here!

A super hotel with friendly staff

We stayed at the hotel for a family wedding and as part of our island hopping holiday. From the reception to the breakfast room and the room service everybody was extremely courteous, helpful and pleasant. The included breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The pool area was beautiful with a wonderful view of the mountain behind. The location of the hotel is perfect with Perissa beach a short walk away and a nearby bus stop to Fira. We really liked the hotel.

A nice stay

We had a normal room ( not very big) with a small balcony we didn't use and which was a little covered in dust. The bed was a bit hard. The wifi was good. The breakfast was kind of poor and repetitive. The bathroom is ok. It seemed quiet, l didn't hear the neighbours. For the money l spent it was fine. The hotel is very near to the bus station. The beach is 5 minutes a way. We didn't try the hotel pool but it looked great.

New low in customer service

We spent a week at hotel Marybill with my wife, 4th of August to 11th of August 2018. Mostly we had an ok stay, but unfortunately with a couple of days left we got to experience the worst customer service we've ever had the misfortune to encounter. We had bought a piece of art the day before the incident. The piece (a white tree made of metal wire and resin) was packed in multiple layers of bubble wrap and put in a cardboard box and closed with packing tape. In the afternoon we noticed that the packing tape was streched thin, apparently the cleaner had been trying to rip it open. We noticed there was obvious damage and went to the reception. The receptionist explained that it had been next to the trash bin (still in the shops' plastic bag) and that's why the cleaner had thought it was trash. Ok, so it was an accident and those can happen to anyone. (Why didn't anyone tell us? Come on, leave a note at least.) Well, it really wasn't all that expensive (we payed 140 euros for it and turned out it would have cost maybe 30-50 euros to fix). We offered as a solution that they would contact the artist and ask if it can be fixed and then organise and pay for it, but the hotel staff including the manager Maria categorically refused to take any responsibility. They said that the cardboard box was too weak for an expensive art piece and also questioned our integrity by saying that maybe the thing was already damaged, maybe we had broken it ourselves and were just trying to blame them. They even had to nerve to say that we were lucky that they didn't throw it away completely! To tell you the truth we were shocked. We spent hours trying to convince them that there was no way such damage could have happened by accident (the bendy tree was squashed so much that the resin had fractured from several places and the metal wires seriously deformed) but they wouldn't listen. We had our travel agent and even the artist who made the piece also talk with them, but nothing helped. Eventually I had to spend the last vacation day taking the piece back to the artist, who felt so sorry for the way we had been treated that he decided to fix it for free and send it back to Finland for us when it was done. This would have been an easy fix on the hotels part, maybe 50 euros and no harm done. If they avoid responsibility in something this small, what do you think happens when something expensive brakes? If you decide to go anyway, you probably shouldn't take anything too expensive with you (there are no safety's in rooms, only small safety boxes in the lobby for 2 euros a day). I couldn't fit my DSLR to fit there, so they really weren't very useful for us. Breakfast is very basic, stays the same everyday. Coffee was ok. Rooms didn't have a great soundproofing, but neighbours were quiet. Beds were pretty hard even for someone who likes a hard mattress. Location is ok for the price.
