Hotellet hade, förutom barnpooler, två stora pooler som dock alltid var fulla med människor. För att få solstol var man tvungen att paxa tidigt på morgonen. Stranden hade mycket fin botten och klart och härligt vatten. Den vecka vi var där var det stora vågor varje dag. Hotellets del av stranden hade gott om solstolar som stod glest, vilket var skönt. Stranden delades dock med andra hotell så även om det var gott om plats på stranden var det tyvärr alltid trångt i vattnet. Stranden var ganska kort så den lämpar sig inte för långa promenader eller joggingturer. Tio minuter bort låg en liten strand skyddad från vågorna; 5 euro för två solstolar under en dag. Maten var mycket bra med stort utbud och stor variation av vällagad mat. Varje kväll var det ett tema som t.ex. italienskt, grekiskt, asiatiskt etc. Frukostbuffén var också mycket bra. Kockarna var mycket engagerade men serveringspersonalen var helt ointresserad av gästerna. Den underbara maten gjorde att vi inte nyttjade all inclusive-utbudet, men det såg också bra ut. Dryckerna med allt från läsk till vin och drinkar var hyfsade. Hotellrummen som vi hade var lite mörka, men de var delvis renoverade; ommålade väggar och nya möbler. Badrummen var inte i bästa skick, men helt acceptabla. Det var lyhört från korridoren. Mycket snabb och bra service från receptionen när det behövdes. Städningen var hygglig. Hotellområdet var snyggt och väl tilltaget så man behövde inte trängas med andra gäster förutom i och vid poolerna. Tyvärr var basketplanen på samma yta som två tennisplaner, vilket omöjliggjorde basketspel när någon spelade tennis. Ett enkelt men snyggt gym. Dessvärre fanns det ingenting att torka av maskinerna med så det kändes ofräscht eftersom det var mycket varmt och svettigt. Hotellets omgivning var inte så charmig men det ligger nära Heraklion och mindre än 20 minuter från flygplatsen. Vi hyrde bil en dag och han både med södra Kreta, Ierapetra, härliga stränder samt en snabb shoppingtur i Heraklion.

Very good very nice hotel

Had a lovely few days in Gouves. There’s plenty of places around to eat and have a drink and to watch the football. The hotel was very nice too, clean, spacious, nice food, drink and plenty of ice cream to enjoy… although it is very easy to mistake the vanilla for banana, sheesh. The entertainment team were very entertaining. A lot of activities to take part in, there was a member of the team; Emma who was very welcoming and bright. I took part in her aqua gym class which was very enjoyable. She also choreographed a couple of the evening dance shows which were very entertaining and broadway worthy. There was also a sketch from Ettiene and Jimmy which made the audience laugh. A very good entertainment team all around. From the fella in the banana suit to Vicky in the kids club. Would recommend this hotel.

Fantastic family holiday in crete

We have just left the hotel after a brilliant 10 nights stay as a family of 3 with a 2 year old and i cant rate it high enough. From the second we stepped into the hotel the staff couldn’t do enough for you. Our room was spotless and big enough for the 3 of us. The facilities were brilliant and our little boy loved the splash pool ( we spent most days there ) The food was really good and never found ourselves struggling to find something we fancied. The beach is directly across the small road outside the hotel and its full of sunbeds thats just for the hotel guests. The mini disco was great and we all really loved it. Please say a big thank you to Emma & Beth for us from luca as he loved seeing them and playing and dancing with them. They really were brilliant! Antonio at the bar was great and really enjoyed going to get our drinks from him. The hotel seems at first glance like theres not much at all around it but a nice 10 mins stroll and there is a few tavernas and shops that are really nice. All in all i cant recommend this hotel enough we have had a perfect holiday and would love to return.

Great family holiday!

I’m writing this from my sun lounger on our last day here at this lovely hotel! We have spent 9 days at the Marina Beach and genuinely have had a wonderful holiday! The staff are very friendly and attentive and the hotel is immaculately clean! Our rooms have been serviced well each day and have been provided clean towels when requested. We have stayed in a bungalow room with pool view, highly recommend if anyone is looking to stay at the quieter end of the hotel away from the entertainment area / main pool. There is a lovely pool beside the bungalow rooms and the children’s splash pool is far enough away but close enough too should you wish to go between! The beach is a stones throw over the road from the hotel and is so clean and well kept! There are specific beds just for the hotel guests and plenty of them. The area is policed by hotel staff too so that any other tourists use the other beds which you have to pay for. We have travelled as a family of 5, myself, my husband and our 20 month old daughter as well as my parents. We love our food and cannot fault the quality or variety of the food / drink available. Each day has been different and the theme nights have provided a great variety of different foods! There are however the usual pizza / pasta / salad / chips stations etc for those who may not wish to eat the themed meals and all was of really good quality. The snack bar is open from 10.15 and also provides good quality food all day! The ice cream is amazing and the desserts are soooooo tasty!!!! Location wise we loved the 20 min transfer from the airport especially due to flight times with a toddler and we did a day trip into Heraklion taking our toddler to the Cretaquarium on the way which is 1.6km from the hotel! A great morning / afternoon for kids! We also took another trip to Rethymnon and Preveli which was a 2 hour trip from the hotel but so worth the travel! Gouves probably wouldn’t be my first choice to return to as it’s very quiet but we haven’t struggled staying in the hotel at night. Our nights mostly comprise of the mini disco and a few drinks before bed now!! 😂 We saw a few reviews before we booked if the hotel only catering for French / German tourists but they couldn’t be more wrong! We have felt so so welcome here and the entertainment team are predominantly English so I’ve no idea why people have said that! All the staff have been wonderful and have taken the time to assist if our toddler has had a tantrum etc! Nothing is too much hassle for them! If you want a stress free enjoyable family holiday in a beautiful part of Greece then this hotel is for you!!

Do not go here if you want a quiet holiday!

Nowhere outside to sit in a quiet area the seating is around the pools and extremely noisy. Booked a sea view room and paid a premium for this - view was of the harbour and the back of another hotel, faced north so absolutely no sunlight at any time of the day on the balcony - if you want sun on your balcony book a garden view room. Nice bathroom but almost flooded every time you used the shower. Bedroom was quite depressing, small and drab with very uncomfortable beds. Food was good but not exceptional. Room wasn't cleaned until after 3:00 p.m. so no chance of an afternoon rest! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beach was crowded and quite small and the sand looked like "builders sand". Probably a good hotel for young families but definitely not for older folks. Presumably only a 4 star hotel because of its amenities. Really glad to be home.
